Bingo Halls
With the popularity of Bingo in the UK, bingo halls are quite commonplace
in the country. The smaller towns will use the halls from a church
or a local meeting hall for their bingo games. These are very casual
relaxed games where typically the people themselves bring food and
drinks. It’s more of a place where the town folk can hang
out and socialize with each other. Typically, one will find children
running around and playing while the adults are playing bingo or
they may even be playing themselves. The game bingo, in these places,
is not played for money so they don’t have to abide by the
gambling laws. However, they do play for fun prizes. It’s
strictly a form of entertainment for the locals.
In the bigger cities, you’ll find the more sophisticated bingo
halls. Some of these places play for high stakes and attract the
more serious players. Here one will find food and drink being offered
by servers. The players will buy the amount of cards they want to
play throughout the night and find a good place to sit. While there
is still that camaraderie between players who are just in for the
fun and games aspect of bingo, there are still others who take this
game seriously and set out to concentrate on winning.
These bigger bingo clubs tend to have the more sophisticated equipment
for playing. The caller will typically have what’s called
a Random Number Generator or RNG which pulls numbers at random.
When one calls out that they have a winning card, most likely that
card will be checked against an Auto-Validate system. This is a
system typically used in the bigger clubs to validate winning numbers
otherwise the process of checking numbers will use up a lot of time.
Time that could be spent moving on to the next game. The Auto-Validate
is a system where the checker will read out a 1 to 8 digit code
and that code is checked against the entry for that particular ticket.
If and when it matches then the player is declared a winner and
the next game is started. Typically there will be a break halfway
through the evening where other games or drawings take place.
These bigger more sophisticated clubs are specifically designed
as gambling halls. In these places, one will not find children running
around or playing bingo for that matter. This is a place for those
who are legally old enough to gamble.
